Meet 2017’s Top Franchisors
Running a successful franchise requires lots of hard work, strategy, and of course, a good marketing plan. One way to learn about franchising is to take a look at the best in the biz! Here is some information about the top 5 franchises of 2017 from entrepreneur.com.
This convenience store chain has been around for 90 years, so it’s had a lot of time to gain popularity with its brand and atmosphere. Joe Thompson founded the company in 1927 in Dallas, Texas, and Joseph DePinto acts as the current Chief Executive Officer. 7-Eleven has almost 60,000 franchises across the world. In fact, 85% of those franchises are outside of the United States.
The golden arches of this restaurant have been popping up as franchises since the 1950s. Ray Kroc took a burger stand in San Bernadino and turned it into a household restaurant name. Now McDonald’s is run by Steve Easterbrook and has over 37,000 locations—almost 32,000 of those being franchises.
In 1950, Bill Rosenberg founded Dunkin’ Donuts. 5 years later, the company started to franchise. Today their 12,000 locations can be found in 32 different countries, serving 70 different types of doughnuts. The current CEO, Nigel Travis, has been running the show since January of 2009.
The UPS Store
What started off in 1980 as Mail Boxes Etc., has now come to be known as The UPS Store—one of the most popular alternatives to the U.S. Postal Service. The company started franchising right away and has now grown to nearly 5,000 locations in just 37 short years. The store is a subsidiary of UPS and is now run by Tim Davis.
Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches
This company came from humble beginnings when 19-year-old James Liautaud founded it in 1983. What was first a four-item menu is now a thriving restaurant with a delivery service and over 2,700 locations. Currently, James North fills the position of CEO at Jimmy John’s.
